The Inevitable

Some things in life cannot be helped.

Like when Jonathan was in kindergarten. He wore his brand new winter coat to school and spilled orange juice on it. Someone tried to be helpful by putting it in a sealed plastic bag for the journey home. Unfortunately, Jonathan accidentally left it in the class coat closet over the weekend. By the time I even learned of the mishap, the coat was covered in mildew. If you’re a mom, you know—the once cute coat was ruined forever. Sigh.

And then we have sad days like today. I guess it was inevitable. Between the war in Iraq, countless scandal, fiscal irresponsibility and the fact we still don’t have tight reins on the border . . . we lost the House. And who knows, the Senate might go as well.

A sad day. A day deserved. We reap what we sow. Sigh.

Maybe two years of disaster will help us get a little smarter in 2008!

Cheer up, Beth! All is well! I would rather let them have '06 than '08. I mean seriously, how much can they mess up in two years? Just enough to make everyone mad and frustrated...but the only thing that is going to tick me off is Lieberman...he was sold out and last night he THANKED the liberals...he better be grateful for the Republicans...I hope we don't lose the Senate...we need them for Supreme Court nominations...that is the only thing that really counts, everything else can be undone-Justices take forever!

Also, did you see that J.D. Hayworth lost?

Okay, I CANNOT even handle that JD lost—Steven said they might.

As for Joe—I LOVE that guy. He is just smart. I think he has a pretty good set-up for a run for the White House in '08—after he becomes a Republican. :)

You love Harold Ford, Jr.??? Let me just say that I am disgusted with both him and Corker! Since Oxford is so close to Memphis, we get all the ads and it was so ugly between the two of them...I didn't like Corker either. Also, I am glad I am going into politics and will be poor for the next two years because they are going to raise our taxes! Nancy Pelosi--yikes!

I agree...Although you sound a LOT less cynical when you talk about it :)

I sat and watched the election coverage this morning with tears streaming down my face. A lot to handle esp. with last week's SHOCK on its coat tails. Doesn't help to be PMSing either....did I just write that on your blog?

I agree that perhaps it's better that it happen now... and if '08 isn't any better, then I have to believe that God will either work thru/in spite of Democrats, or it will just quicken His return!!

I agree--Cheer Up!

Democrats are not some antichrist figures sent from satan himself to make the lifes of all christians a living nightmare. There are a lot of democrats who are amazing christians and really why does party even matter. the two party system needs to be done away with. a lot of great things could happen before 08 comes around. Remember whose in control. No one of this earth.

Well lets see, Steph. For starters, the lives of the UNBORN! Secondly, the war against terror, and thirdly, maybe you didn't notice but the economy is GREAT thanks to President Bush and his tax cuts the democrats did not want to happen and plan to reverse!

Goodbye extra money . . . Uncle Sam is coming to call!

Just had to throw in my two cents...

No, Democrats aren't anti-Christ figures but yes party does matter, and though God is ultimately in control, He's chosen to work through the authority of people on this earth (Romans 13:1). We've got a say in who those people are in the US.

While abortion is a huge issue - is it the only issue worth looking at? And what about the fact that every day that we are in Iraq we're spending 200 million dollars? That's not ideal for the economy.

May we grasp the one without letting go of the other...Ecc. 7:18

Hi mr./miss anonymous:

why don't you visit me at my site and we can discuss this further if you want. I am not here to make you think what i think or try to push you into the ground. I am just a bit sarcastic at times and wanted to say that we need to look at the people running the government and not the party. There are a lot of great democrats and a lot of bad ones. and guess what same goes for the republican party. my site is www.xanga.com/stevie_101.

read my latest post before you comment though to get a feel on my thoughts towards the issues.

My heart was so saddened by the whole election last night. Today I was reminded of God's godness and His faithfulness to His children. Although the outcome was not as I would have chosen I did find comfort in His Word and in His promises. I will continue to pray for this country and for us as His people (liberal and conservative alike)

Hey Mrs Hasz!! Thank you for your comment, it really blessed me to know that you were thining of me! I am 6 days past my due date...its been hard waiting for the baby to come, physically and emotionally. Its like christmas is comming but you dont know when- it could come at any time! I also feel HUGE and can no longer see my feet. Its been hard living with such a huge belly! I read your husbands post about joy and it really blessed me. I just needed to trust in the Lord and cast my cares upon him. I have been feeling alot of emotions about mostly excitment but also...well I have never done this before. Tomorrow I have a dr. appointment to get an untra sound and then talk about inducing soon. The whole idea feels kinda scary but the Lord encouraged me in my quiet time, that he is in control, my name is written on the palms of his hand and he hasnt forgotten me. He loves me and its going to be ok... :) Anyway I know I am writing alot. Thanks for the comment. I look up to you alot. :) I love you blog, your pictures your stories You are a great mom and are in my prayers! Hope that you have a lovely day! Blessings in Jesus name!

Wow - the comments are pretty heated today. You are stirring things up, Beth. And you know I love that :-)

wow - politics - I LOVE it! Stephanie, I have no idea who you are, but I find myself agreeing about Democrats - I think anyone who chooses one party and simply sticks to it is ignorant. Of course, my ex-boyfriend asked me if I thought President Bush voted straight Republican, because then I guess was I saying he is ignorant, too? But - there are definitely beliefs I hold true that are on the side of Democrats. And I love Jesus completley.

I guess I am guilty of ignorance. That is okay, I have been called worse. :-)

I was reading back in some of your old posts and just wanted to comment on the one from Oct 4 (Caution: Very Serious Blog). At 13 my cousin's girlfriend (now wife) got pregnant. Her mother promptly took her down for an abortion. At 14, 15 and 17 she was pregnant yet again, but was no longer living with mom. With the pregnancy at 17 she was highly encouraged to have an abortion. Even though she considered ending the pregnancy she couldn't go through with it because of horrible nightmares. The dreams went on for a long time and in the end she added a third daughter to her family. I don't think any woman could walk away from an abortion (no matter the circumstances) without some kind of scaring. I had a teacher in high school who would tell her students each year that she had an abortion. She never announced this proudly, but was always on the defense. Her regret always came out when she announced the doctor's assumption that the child MAY have Downs Syndrome. My heart goes out to these women who made dumb choices for whatever reason only to be crushed by it later. I think it’s a shame they are not the ones out talking to women about their pain to try and prevent even one more woman from walking that path.

Oh and Beth... I have to chuckle when you post about age issues. I'm not sure how old you were when you guys had Ashley, but I will be 30 right after I have my first. If I dare want four kids I have to get on the ball now or will be a lot older than my grandmother was when she took on that title. As far as my family goes, I am getting a late start by at least 11-12 years. I'm not to worried about it though... after waiting so long to conceive this one I know she’s arriving in God's timing as will her siblings.
