Oh The Woes

Ashley and her spectacles
Originally uploaded by Beth.
Ashley has been wanting glasses for quite some time. But alas, to her chagrin, she has perfect vision. We have had countless conversations with her about how she should be grateful she doesn’t need glasses.

David has either worn glasses or contacts all of his life. He did have laser surgery a few years back . . . but unfortunately, his eyes eventually grew worse. He now, once again, knows far too well the pain of needing either his contacts or glasses.

I have been blessed with great eyesight. I finally gave in and let Ashley buy these fake glasses for two reasons: One, I am sick of hearing about how she wishes she needed glasses. (I know you are grimacing if you wear glasses or contacts). Secondly, I actually remember thinking how unfair it was as a child that my older sister needed glasses and I didn’t. Funny how our brains work sometimes.

Ashley will soon tire of these $5.00 glasses. Any guesses on how long it will take? I give it a week.

If any lesson is learned, I hope it is how totally blessed she is to have such great vision!

I love my glasses. and i've had them for so long, that it just seems weird when i don't wear them. my parents would never let me have fake glasses like that. they never gave in to anything. :)

Oh my, you can imagine my thoughts...I work at an eye doctors office. My husband and three kids are blind as bats. What a precious little gem she is. I pray she never needs the glasses. A little vasoline on those lenses would convince her quickly that not seeing good everyday would be horrible. Kinda like "starving" :) I do agree with Miss Lacy, she does look cute wearing them though!

Beth,
I wore glasses for many years growing up. After Sam and I got married, I had laser surgery, and now my vision is near perfect. Here's the part you shouldn't tell your daughter....I sometimes really do miss them! Isn't that strange? I don't know why our brains work that way!
P.S. They really do look cute on her! :)

I love my contacts...I thought about having the laser surgery, but I am too vain and love having blue eyes rather than brown AND I love my glasses because they are wireless and a neat geometrical shape...I get tons of compliments on them-plus they work to warn people that I am tired and don't need to be bothered whenever I wear them, works like an force field to keep all the people who want to irritate me away!

I remember thinking it would be SOOOO cool to have braces, glasses, red hair and LOTS of freckles. The glasses actually look really good on her...she looks hip!
By the way, I keep meaning to tell you that if you adopt a little girl from China, they come with a GUARANTEE to love ballet. Want to go for number 5???

Hi Mrs. Hasz,
thanks for visiting my site. Your husband seems to know who I am around campus for the past few months, and I always get a kick out of that...I generally see and talk to him during some kind of exercise activity! (go see my newest post) (GRIN!) Mr. Hasz has changed my life the entire two years I've been here. I think what changed my life the most was the Tribal retreat which he invented. Thank you for being the great woman behind the great man Mrs. Hasz! :)

I remember in elementary school actually arguing with my dentist about how much I needed braces. He won every time because I, in fact, didnt actually need them. But I put up a good fight. :)

I remember how cool they seemed and all my friends had them with their different colored rubber bands and stuff...I dont know what I was thinking...but this went on for about a year.
too bad they didnt have fake braces back then :)

I remember when I was younger-don't remember the grade- but wanted glasses SOOOooooo badly- that I lied on the vision test- and got them! I repented much later--- but Ashley looks SO cute in her glasses- they may just last awhile!

I don't know if a witty comment resides within my mind after reading this entry. The girl wants to wear glasses? I don't get it; I just don't get it. I remember as a kid how badly I wanted straight hair so my mother would douse my head with my father's bottle of vitalas (think that's how you spell it) and make my desire reality. She didn't do this every day, only on special occasions, like school pictures or when my sister and I would perform skits from the Carol Burnett Show. Ah, the 70's.

Well, ya know... glamour glasses are totally "in" where I live! hahaha. I don't have any myself cuz I could care less about fads--I just wear sun glasses ALL THE TIME. But many ppl I know wear fake glasses... kind of like an accesory. Cute! Hate to say it but she may not tire of it.

My 12 year old got his ears pierced a while back (well ONE ear, and then he decided to pierce the other one with an earring--sick)... anyway, he wears these diamond earrings (totally fake) the size of quarters. What a spectacle he was last week when we were visiting our menonite family in Indiana!!!! People in the malls were staring! Just when they got over my nose ring... hahaha!

I don't know - I got a pair of fake glasses when I was in about the 6th grade, and I STILL have them today. I don't wear them, unless it's for some goofy reason - but I have them :) Just wait. She might still have them in a drawer some where when she's 22 years old, too....
