Home Again, Home Again

David and I (along with Cole and Nicholas) just got back last night from a week in Minneapolis. We had the most amazing time hanging out with good friends, visiting some great churches, interacting with students on the North campus and meeting new people. What a whirlwind this week has been! Even though I googled to get the weather, somehow I was off about 20 degrees . . . so we were rather chilly most of the time.

Yesterday, after packing up to return home, we arrived a bit early at the airport. After waiting two hours to board our plane we were told our flight was being delayed two hours. After waiting two more hours we were told it was being delayed another 30 minutes.

Everyone has dealt with flight delays . . . it wouldn't have been so bad had we not had Nicholas with us. Poor little guy. He was so tired and cranky (me too, I just couldn't express myself in quite the same way.)

At 5:00 when we finally were all seated on our completely full flight (meaning the lap child really was a lap child), Nicholas was crying quite loudly. We were trying everything we could think of, but nothing would console.

One of the flight attendants came up and asked Nicholas, "What's the matter, Little Buddy?" Breaking all the tension in the air David replied, "He wanted to be on the 2:30 flight." All the passengers around us chimed in with, "Me too!"

Laughter all around. I've learned over the years this is a gift of David's and he never ceases to amaze me with his ability to turn the tide in tense situations.

Nicholas' crying soon turned into sleep . . . and his parents turned into very grateful passengers.

Yup, it's been chilly up this way. It's sure not Texas weather. You know, it's no wonder the world loves your husband :)

Alicia just told me that they are having an Aquire the Fire right here this winter! We are praying that maybe we can take it in. I was hoping it was Sam's ministry, but Alicia said that was Stand Up...shoot!

I am with Heidi! You were near and didn't bother telling us?! We could have all rode together and had a great time. Tsk, tsk, tsk. I bet next time you will let us know! ;)

As Heidi and Nickernoodle have said so eloquently, HELLO! WE'RE RIGHT HERE!

Glad you made it back to your home safely.

Oh, my SD friends . . . I actually DID have the thought, "I wonder how far South Dakota is from here?"

Definitely! Next time we'll make it a date somewhere right between the two. : )

So glad you made it through the flight and he fell asleep. The older Abigail gets, the noisier - whether crying or just chatting quite loudly. She's got a lot to say for 8 months.

A sense of humor is a wonderful thing especially with travel delays!

Sounds like a rough time, but I'm glad he finally fell asleep! :)

I thought you'd enjoy this little story....Yesterday Sam told the boys we were going to go walk around at Kohl's a little bit. To our surprise, Henry was super excited--funny, since shopping isn't usually his favorite thing. It only took us a few minutes to realize that he thought we meant we were going to COLE'S. :) We'll have to get those boys together one of these days!

Welcome Home! What a fun trip. We havent ventured out on a plane with little ones since Sarah was a baby! We only had three then and it was kind of wild...cant imagine adding the two little ones! So...our only fun trip these days is Pine Cove! Only 45 minutes away! :)

I also wanted to see if we could get together with Brenda when she comes in. I told her I would contact you and see what your plans are. If you can, shoot me an email! Thanks :)
