Grab The Raid!

Ashley is collecting spiders for Science class . . . this is just the sampling of the ones she caught living in our yard on Sunday afternoon.

Oh the joys of living in Texas!

I am getting the heebie geebies just looking at the picture. The black and yellow one is a common garden spider...just had an exciting conversation with a co-worker about his run-in with one this weekend. I am sort of hoping we miss the insect unit when we get to that stage.

Goodness, Beth!! That is so gross! Who is helping her stick the pin in the spider??? I hope you don't get the honor of doing it!!
Wow...I really hate bugs and my kids will have to either skip this or do it with dad!!

Nicole that's so nice of you to think I might actually be able to handle sticking pins in them . . . no, that's David's department!

I freaked out everytime I looked at them sitting on my coffee table. She was quite insistent they needed to stay indoors for the night—whatever!

ummm nickernoodle...we have spiders here too. we actually let the kids chase one around on the basement carpet just last night, right before we let them smash it dead too.

Man, we were thinking it would nice to move to Texas, but there is no way Jenna would be going there now!
Alicia has told us about those nasty things. I thought she was kidding. They are only in GV, right? RIGHT!?????

I got the heebie-jeebies looking at the spider picture! Yech! Do you (or Ashley) know what kind of spider the big brown one on the left is? It looks awefully familiar....we found one like it in between to window panes when we first moved into our house...

Ew! Whoa! Holy smokes! In your yard? Nice! Who did the duty of sticking the needle through their hearts?? Sickos!! ")

Well, in collegen my roommate and I had a taranchula. We named it The Dog, so that we could everso brilliantly post a sign on our door that said "beware of the dog." We had permission, too.

She got some great ones! If you need more I have plenty here! We have spiders everywhere here. We have one that has lived in our barn for about 4 years now. My theory is-if it stays out of my way it lives, if it is where I need to be, then it dies. You know they eat all the bugs, that is why we like them around here. My advice at night do not walk around-if you do have a stick and swing it in front of you, or you are likely to walk right into a spider web. My daughter loves to look at the webs in the early morning, when the dew is still on them. They are really pretty, what amazing creatures. I think they are great outside-you come into my house and you get smashed!

Oh...my...goodness! I cannot believe those are normal spiders to find where you live!

I've got the willies just thinking about it!
