What Could Be More Fun?

Cole went to his first birthday party of one of his classmates on Saturday. This was a birthday party of all birthday parties.

First they went into a room with “Build a Bear” animals all over the wall. They all got to choose one and then “build” it. Though it said as much in the invitation, I assumed the bears would be tiny—like the ones in Happy Meals at McDonald's. Oh no. They were regular size and if you've ever bought one (with all their paraphernalia), you know they
are rather pricey!

After their animals were dressed, they headed over to the table for pizza and lemonade followed by birthday cake. At this point they were all given a bag of tokens for the play room (like Chuckie Cheese) where they won tickets to be redeemed for small prizes. Hmmmm, do you think Cole might be a little bit on the short side?

Cole had a blast . . . but can I just say one thing? When it comes to birthday parties for his classmates, the bar has been set rather high!

They just started a "Build A Buddy" here...same concept..very pricey. Skyler has been to 2 parties there and I am awed at what these mom's pay. Needless to say we won't be building any bears at the Franzen parties. :-)

Kids did not get fun tokens and a game room though...what can I say, "TIA".

fun party! I just went to a 3 year olds birthday party, too! Guess what they had there?! 2 ponies for the kids to ride, a huge blow up water slide, cotton candy machine, and the usual cupcakes, snacks, and presents. there were probably 30 kids and 30 adults there.
I kept thinking about how much money it must have cost!
Lacy:)
at least i don't have to invite the same families/kids to any parties i have to throw just yet:)

Thank the Lord that my kids grew up in the day when we could get away with a back yard party with some games, prizes, and cupcakes. I am in shock!

I can remember when some of the moms introduces going to MacDonalds for the party. I thought that was extravagant :/

Okay Beth, I am so serious about this, your kid is so cute - I mean so photogenic - I want to photograph him and put his pictures on my website. How do I do this when the Hasz family is way out and down there in Texas?!!? Maybe you need to take a field trip, like a theater trip, to the big city of New York? What do you think about that? The kids can come and see The Lion King and Mary Poppins. (I wouldn't recommend Tarzan). Oh, and The Little Mermaid is opening soon. Come on up, the city is waiting for you. And some great photography!!!

WOW!! Now that's quite the party. Where were the ponies and the clowns?! I love to do theme parties but I keep them within a certain dollar amount. Good luck with that.

birthday parties have gotten out of hand, in my opinion. it has become a parents chance to show their talents, skills, and finances off to other parents in the name of a 'good time' for their kids. when in truth the kids are happy with a few friends, running in the back yard and eating cake.

so that's my thoughts on it:0)

I agree that it sounds like great fun, but out of our birthday party budget. Heidi is right, the kids really are happy with just having friends over to enjoy cake and open presents.
That boy of yours is so darn cute!

Wow, I bet that did get pricey, when I was a kid we just had the bean-bag toss and candy!!

I wanted to share some exciting news with you, Al and I got engaged this weekend! Please pass the word on to your husband too if you would, I thought you would both be excited to hear :-)

Thanks for looking past the black eyes and the puffiness and swelling along with the lack of cosmetic enhancement...now I know that you only see the inner and not the outer!

Austin is supposed to call me when I get back...thus, this week or next week is when the ball really start rolling...
